Charlie Olson has put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract with the club.
The young defender has signed a one-year deal through to June 2024, with a 12-month option.
Olson joined the club as an Under-12 six years ago and has made good progress through the Rovers ranks since.
A virtual ever-present for Rovers Under-18s as a first year scholar in 2021-22, the centre-back had an injury-interrupted campaign last season, but is looking forward to life as a professional footballer now that he is back to full fitness.
“It’s a huge day and a really proud moment for me and my family,” said the talented teenager after signing his new deal.
“It’s something I’ve worked towards from being a young lad and something I’ve dreamed of, so for it to come true is unbelievable. The ultimate goal for so many young kids is to be a professional footballer and for me to finally do it is a dream come true.
“There’s so many coaches in and around the building who I’ve worked with through the age groups who have got me to this point and I must say thank you to them. I love the club, I’ve loved my time at the Academy and when I’ve had the opportunity to go up to the top to train with the first team I’ve loved every second of it, so to be here for at least another year, to try and prove myself, I’m looking forward to the future.
“I’ve had a tough season, having a six-month injury and surgery on my ankle, but I’ve come out of the other end of it now. Pre-season is going to be massive for me and I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running and getting ready for next season.
“I’ve just got to keep my head down, work hard, keep improving, try and play as well as possible whenever I get the chance and see what happens. I’m looking forward to it.”
Congratulations, Charlie!
