On 1st October each year, the day is marked by the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons and at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust we share the UN’s goals to raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges faced by older people.

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust plays an integral role in the Blackburn with Darwen area providing opportunities for all ages to get involved in a variety of activities.

With the likes of Jack’s Walkers, Remember the Rovers and Line Dancing we welcome a great number of older people from the Borough each week to partake in such initiatives.

On this day we would like to share the story of Barbara, who is our longest-serving participant on any of our programmes and never misses a session of our Line Dancing classes on a Friday morning.

Barbara began attending in 2005 because of her love of dancing and in those 18 years since has made some great friends and memories!

Hear from Barbara herself in the video below as to why she puts on her dancing shoes each week!

If you or a family member would like to get involved with any of the above programmes, then please get in touch with ben.howard@brfctrust.co.uk or jennifer.calvert@brfctrust.co.uk
