His season began with an injury and has ended due to an ankle issue, resulting in Arnor Sigurdsson being frustrated at being unable to join the survival fight with Rovers.
The Icelandic international suffered the problem on international duty, with the winger crudely being taken out by an opposition player in the 4-1 victory for his country against Israel last month.
The ankle problem means the 24-year-old’s campaign has ended prematurely, bringing an end to a stop-start campaign for the former CSKA Moscow man, who had to wait until the end of September to make his debut for Rovers following a groin issue in pre-season.
And, having got his head around the fact that there’ll be no more games in 2023-24, Sigurdsson’s now focused on making a full recovery and playing his part in helping the team from the sidelines.
“It’s going alright, but it was a really tough week when I knew I would miss the rest of the season,” he said to RoversTV when reflecting on his injury woe.

“It’s a part of football, though, and the rehabilitation has been good.
“It’s really tough, especially in the situation we’re in where we’re all fighting.
“Every game is really important and to not have been able to help the team has been really tough.
“It was a ridiculous tackle and, speaking to the doctors, they mentioned how I was lucky it wasn’t worse and that it wasn’t a broken ankle.
“You have to look at the positives but the first two weeks or so has been tough," he added honestly.
“It’s a tough injury with it being the ligaments in my ankle and it takes time. We’re not looking at a date where I have to be back because it’s impossible for me to be back before the end of the season.”
