Rovers boss Valerien Ismael has made four changes to his starting XI for this afternoon’s Ewood Park encounter against Cardiff City.

Injury means Callum Brittain drops out at right-back, with Joe Rankin-Costello returning to the side in place of the 27-year-old, starting for the first time under Ismael after making an impact off the bench at Stoke City last time out.

Dion Sanderson and Adam Forshaw drop to the bench, with Sondre Tronstad and Yuki Ohashi replacing the duo in what looks to be a change of system for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Dennis starts a league game for the first time in Rovers colours, with the Nigerian taking the place of Todd Cantwell.

As for Cardiff, Omer Riza makes five alterations to the team that started the midweek defeat at home to Luton Town.

Recalls are handed to Joe Ralls, Joel Bagan, Sivert Mannsverk, Andy Rinomhota and ex-Preston North End forward Callum Robinson.

The quintet replace the injured Aaron Ramsey, Dimitrios Goutas, Rubin Colwill, Will Alves and Alex Robertson.

David Turnbull, who scored against Rovers in the meeting in Wales back in November, marks his return from injury with a place on the bench.

Kick-off is at 3pm this afternoon.
