Rovers Under-21s' two-game winning run in Premier League 2 was brought to an end in emphatic style as Mike Sheron's youngsters suffered a 4-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s on Friday night.

Played at Stevenage's Lamex Stadium, Spurs forward Jaden Williams will no doubt grab the headlines for his well-taken hat-trick, which arrived after the opener from Mikey Moore just before the half-hour mark.

Moore, who's been part of Ange Postecoglu's first-team squad this term for Spurs, fired home from range to beat Nick Michalski in style in Hertfordshire.

Williams' first and Spurs' second was a hammer blow for Rovers, with the attacker thumping home a low finish with just a minute of the first period remaining.

Rovers went in search of halving the deficit early into the second-half, with Max Robson in the right place at the right time to hack a Harrison Wood effort off the line, before Spurs got their third, which all but secured the points.

It was Williams again, with the frontman prodding home just after the hour when he latched onto Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny's ball back across.

The Spurs duo combined again with 15 minutes left, with Williams taking home the matchball with his third and the hosts' fourth, giving Michalski no chance after being played in behind the Rovers backline.

Rover return to action on Monday 31st March when the team take on Wolves at Aggborough Stadium in Kidderminster, kick-off 7pm.
