Bio
The 33-year-old, who has over 350 career appearances and three promotions on his CV, joined Rovers on a short-term deal until the end of the 2024-25 season after terminating his contract at Plymouth Argyle.
Forshaw’s arrival at Rovers followed hot on the heels of the signing of defender Dion Sanderson on loan from League One leaders Birmingham City.
Starting out at Everton, where he made his Premier League debut in April 2011, Forshaw spent time on loan at Brentford, before joining the Bees on a permanent deal in May 2012.
During a successful spell at Griffin Park, the midfielder made exactly 100 appearances, scoring 11 goals, and helped Brentford secure promotion to the Championship in 2013-14, with Forshaw crowned the League One Player of the Year.
Following a short spell at Wigan Athletic, Forshaw moved to Middlesbrough in January 2015 and helped the club reach the Championship play-off final in his first season on Teesside.
He then played a key role as Boro secured automatic promotion to the Premier League the following season.
After three years and over 100 appearances for Middlesbrough, Forshaw joined Leeds United for a reported £4.5m in January 2018.
Leeds secured promotion to the Premier League in 2020-21 and Forshaw featured regularly in the top flight the following season, making 22 appearances.
After five-and-a-half seasons at Elland Road, Forshaw joined Norwich City in August 2023, before signing for Plymouth Argyle, making 13 appearances during the second half of 2023-24 and helping the Pilgrims secure their Championship status.
